Economic Aspects
Las condiciones climáticas han hecho que el riego artificial sea imprescindible para los cultivos y se ha logrado un complejo sistema de riego de 2.000 km. Los principales cultivos son ajo, cebolla, espárrago, aceituna, ciruela, duraznos y damasco. Pero el más importante es la uva en fresco, de excelente calidad por la alta luminosidad, baja humedad relativa ambiente y altas temperaturas durante el período estival. Las preferidas son: Thompson Seedless, Emperor, Cereza, Cardinale, Almería, Datier de Beirut y Ribier. / The climatic conditions have made artificial irrigation essential for the development of agriculture. A 2,000 km of a complex system of irrigation has been developed. The main farm produce are garlic, onion, asparagus, olive, plum, peach and damson. But the main production is grape in fresh of excellent quality due the high luminosity, low relative humidity atmosphere and high temperatures during the summer period. The favorites are: Thompson Seedless, Emperor, Cereza, Cardinale, Almeria, Datier of Beirut and Ribier.

Dentro de la ciudad los turistas pueden visitar la Plaza 25 de Mayo, el Club Social, el Club Español, la Bolsa de Comercio, la Iglesia

Catedral y la Peatonal. El sitio más convocante es la Casa Natal de Domingo Faustino Sarmiento. Convertida en Museo en 1910, fue construida en 1801 por su madre, Paula Albarracín, cuando todavía era soltera, y sobrevivió a 4 terremotos. En esa línea de turismo histórico y cultural se inscribe la Celda Histórica donde el General San Martín se alojó antes de emprender su titánico cruce a la cordillera de los Andes. También el novedoso Museo del Olivo, único en Sudamérica, con gran oferta de productos gourmet. A pocos kilómetros se encuentra el Dique Ullum, donde se pueden practicar deportes acuáticos o disfrutar en sus numerosos clubes de una fresca tarde de verano. / In the city, tourist can visit 25 de Mayo Square, Club Social, Club Español, Bolsa de Comercio, the Cathedral and the Peatonal. The most convoking site is the Native House of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento (national hero).
