Es una bodega artesanal, instalada
en San Rafael, al sur de la provincia de Mendoza. Una
empresa familiar iniciada en el año 1956 por Don
Jean Rivier, inmigrante suizo-francés. Actualmente,
la segunda generación de viticultores-criadores,
se vale de modernas técnicas de cultivo y vinificación
con el propósito de resaltar el potencial natural
de sus uvas.
‘Viticultores Criadores’ es el lema que adoptó
la bodega desde sus inicios. Es la profesión que
consiste inicialmente en cultivar y cuidar los viñedos
propios para obtener una materia prima de calidad, conocer
sus características derivadas del cepaje, el clima
y el suelo de la región; y finalmente realizar
la elaboración y crianza de los vinos. En resumen,
se refiere a la actividad en la que todos los factores
de producción están bajo el control de la
empresa.

En la actualidad, la bodega
Jean Rivier elabora y comercializa vinos que provienen
de uvas propias y, en menor cantidad, producidas por viticultores
que conducen sus vides de acuerdo a criterios de calidad
establecidos por la bodega. Las variedades blancas que
se elaboran son Chenin Blanc, Tocai Friulano y Torrontés,
y las tintas, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda y Merlot.
This is a traditional winery located in San Rafael, province
of Mendoza, Argentina. This family-owned business was
founded in 1956 by Jean Rivier, a Swiss-French immigrant.
In this moment, the second generation of winegrowers employs
modern technology of cultivation and vinification in order
to preserve and enhance the natural characteristics of
the grapes.

‘Winegrowers’
is the motto that Jean Rivier winery has adopted since
its beginnings. The winegrowing activity starts with the
cultivation and control of the vineyards, so that
a good quality raw material is obtained. It also has to
do with understanding the characteristics of the grape
varieties and the regions’ soils and climates. Finally,
winegrowing entails the elaboration and aging of the wines.
As a result of maintaining all the production stages under
control, Jean Rivier winery is able to obtain a product
of the highest quality. At present, Jean Rivier winery
elaborates and sells wines produced with grapes from its
own vineyards and in a lower scale, with grapes produced
by other growers who follow the quality criteria of the
winery. The white varieties elaborated are Chenin Blanc,
Tocai Friulano, and Torrontés, and the red ones,
Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, and Merlot. |
