Bodegas Escorihuela, fundada en
1884 por Don Miguel Escorihuela Gascón, es una
de las bodegas más antiguas y tradicionales de
Mendoza. Ubicada a sólo tres kilómetros
de la ciudad, en el distrito de Godoy Cruz, es un lugar
de visita obligada para turistas y amantes del vino.
En 1910, y celebrando el 1er Centenario de la Revolución
de Mayo, Don Miguel encargó a Francia un tonel
de 63.000 litros, íntegramente tallado en roble
Nancy, cuya imagen central representa a Dionisio y su
corte. La espectacular obra fue realizada por el escultor
francés Vallin y es considerada una de las más
importantes reliquias de la historia vinícola
Argentina. En 1992 un importante grupo de accionistas
liderado por Nicolás Catena Zapata adquiere la
empresa introduciendo cambios tecnológicos, pero

respetando y cuidando la arquitectura
y tradición. En el corazón de Escorihuela
se encuentra 1884 Restaurante del prestigioso chef internacional
Francis Mallmann. En un entorno cálido y de cuidado
refinamiento, 1884 cuenta con la carta de vinos más
importantes del país.

This barrel
was carved with Dionysius and its court. This spectacular
piece of art was made by Vallin, a French sculpture, and
was considerer one of the most important work of Argentinean
viticulture history. In 1992, the winery was acquired
by an important group of stockholders lead by Nicolas
Catena Zapata, and many important changes were made, always
respecting and caring for the architecture and tradition
