Catherine Péré-Vergé, propietaria de Monteviejo e integrante de la aventura argentina Clos de los Siete, comenzó su historia en el mundo vitivinícola hace 20 años, en la región bordelesa de Pomerol donde adquirió Château Montviel. Igualmente mostró interés en la apelación Lalande de Pomerol con Château La Graviére en el año 2000. Luego en el año 2002, decidida a retomar unos de los primeros viñedos de Pomerol, eligió Château Le Gay.
Monteviejo se encuentra ubicada a 120 km de la ciudad de Mendoza, en el distrito de Vista Flores, Tunuyán, al pie de la Cordillera de los Andes, a 1.050 metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar. Posee suelos franco-pedregosos, de estructura pobre, ideales para vides de calidad. Dentro de un grupo de propiedades cuya superficie total es de 850 hectáreas, Monteviejo representa 121 hectáreas, de las cuales 107 se encuentran implantadas a la fecha.
Entre las variedades implantadas podemos

encontrar Malbec, cepaje emblemático de Argentina, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah y Chardonnay.
La construcción de la bodega comenzó a principios de 2001 y la primera cosecha se realizó en 2002. Las viñas se encuentran implantadas utilizando un sistema de conducción de espaldero alto, de 1,8 metros de altura en alta densidad, con una cantidad de 5.500 plantas por hectárea, distribuidas en parcelas chicas de entre 1 y 3 hectáreas para seguir la trazabilidad del viñedo.

Monteviejo is located 120 km from Mendoza City, in the district of Vista Flores, Tunuyán at the foot of the Andes mountain range, 3,444 feet above sea level. The loamy-stony soils with poor structure of the area are ideal for fine vines. From a group of fields that have a total area of 850 hectares, Monteviejo represents 121 hectares, 107 of which are planted.
Some of varieties planted include Malbec, an emblematic grapevine of Argentina, as well as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay.
The construction of the winery started at the beginning of 2001 and the first harvest was carried out in 2002.
The vine system used is high trellis, of 1.8 meters and high density. There are 5,500 plants per hectare, distributed in smaller pieces of land of 1 to 3 hectares in order to follow the traceability to the plant.
