Banfi is a family-owned winery dedicated to the production of premium wines. It is located in Las Compuertas, Vistalba, in Mendoza, Argentina. Surrounded by the Andes mountain range, this region is considered the best wine area of Argentina especially for the Malbec varitey. Bodega Banfi was born as a personal project of Rubén Banfi and his three sons who love wine and the winemaking process, and have a common desire to further Argentina’s reputation as a high quality wine region. Ruben Banfi has been a successful businessman in the telecommunication business for over 35 years and decided, in 2001, to move into the world of wine. The first two harvests (2002 and 2003) were vinified in a rented winery and the grapes were bought from some local growers. In 2004, Banfi winery processed its first vintage in its own facility in Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo. The annual production for the first two vintages was 60,000 bottles and 85,000 bottles respectively. The production for the current year has increased to approximately 160,000 bottles. The objective is to reach a production level of 250,000 bottles in the next three years. The winery building, acquired by the Banfi family in 2003, had the traditional construction style followed in Mendoza around 1960. It was refurbished, incorporating modern machinery and equipment, and adapted to produce high-quality wines. Bodega Banfi is run by Rubén Banfi and his son Guillermo. The team also includes two winemakers, Pablo and Hector Durigutti. Pablo is fully responsible for the operation of the winery while Hector is in charge of the vineyards and the wine styles. Hector is considered one of the foremost Argentine winemakers with great authority in the production of Malbec.

Esta nueva bodega responde a una compartida pasión familiar forjada con el aporte del savoir faire francés, la alegre prolijidad suiza y la fuerza telúrica del norte argentino. Banfi nació como un proyecto personal de Rubén Banfi y sus tres hijos. A principios de 2001, los primeros pasos para la concreción del sueño se orientaron hacia la elaboración de vinos en una bodega alquilada, comprando la uva a productores independientes, con resultados tan halagüeños que impulsaron a seguir desarrollándose con un crecimiento sostenido hasta que en Diciembre del 2003 decidieron adquirir una bodega en la zona de Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo, con una capacidad de 700.000 litros. Actualmente produce 160.000 botellas y planea incrementar su producción a 250.000. La Bodega trabaja en forma permanente con un grupo selecto de productores de uva de la denominada primera zona, en particular, Agrelo, La Consulta y Vistalba, que siguen las instrucciones del ingeniero agrónomo y los enólogos en cuanto al manejo del viñedo para lograr uvas de alta calidad. Ubicada, a 1.070 metros de altura, en la primera zona vitivinícola de Mendoza en Vistalba, Las Compuertas, Luján de Cuyo, la bodega posee un diseño simple y ha sido pensada para elaborar vinos personales y de alta calidad. Está equipada con los últimos desarrollos tecnológicos. La conducción de la producción está a cargo de Pablo Durigutti, enólogo formado en la bodega La Rural, donde elaboró los vinos Rutini. Además, Bodega Banfi cuenta con el asesoramiento permanente de Héctor Durigutti, hermano de Pablo, responsable de definir el estilo de los vinos con el Ingeniero Rubén Banfi.
